What we are studying
We are now studying matter in every grade. We are working on classifying different types of matter according to their physical properties. Physical properties include magnetism, density, mass, volume and many more. This unit is fun because your child is able to work with many tools and discover new things. We will make different solutions, measure with a triple beam balance, and test objects for magnetism and bouyancy. As always, safety will be the ongoing theme and your child will be required to exhibit good safety practices.
Every class begins with a science starter. The questions on the science starter work as a spiral review. The questions come from all aspects of science. They keep these in their science folder to use as study tools. Each class also writes in a science notebook everyday. The science notebook is where they write about the new discoveries they made that day and gives them an opportunity to reflect on everything we did thay day. The notebooks stay in classroom but if you want to look at them please feel free to come by, they will be sent home at the end of the year.

Meet the Teacher
My name is Lesa Keltz and I am excited to be teaching science at Spur ISD! I have lived in the West Texas area my whole life. I graduated from Motley County High School and then from Texas Tech University, go Red Raiders!! I have four adorable children; Kaitlyn, Kenzie, Kagen, and Kennedy. I can't forget about my wonderful husband, Kevin. We have been married for 12 years and we love living in Spur. This will be our 3rd year in this community but it is so loving and welcoming we feel like we grew up here! My true passion is teaching, I love working with kids and just being around them. They make you feel young again. I would like to welcome anyone with questions or concerns about their children to feel free to email me or call me.
